when your in a convoy and a car breaks they call and if you are with an sj (sorry dean), or a polo  it all adds up, also tom likes to take ages to say what he wants, this is to compensate for jonnys concise verbal manner, tom how much was yours

Called home a few minutes every other day (worried mother, you know)... + a lot of inter-team calls. Still our bill is not much more than 150 euros, i believe. Guess that global sim card did pay off in the end.

there where no calls home, they were all to teams in convoy with us, texts were free even abroad feel really stupid for answering the phone at all

you get charged for giving and receiving calls so if toms was £498 jelles was £200 i can see where it went now, i never called simon

would have been cheaper buying you a decent car

Its a real shame we couldnt sort out the polo and insurance for me, although it would have been trashed in Mongolia. Although I doubt we would have had the V5 back in time either
 
We did ok

I think it would have been really rough in the original jeep, no room to put the seats back, no windscreen (eating bugs!) no roof or doors, we were in torrential rain in Kazak. Total lack of security...
 
however in the "rally spirit" for being totally mental!?

Yeah defo, that first night we camped in slovakia and it was freezing and the holidayers kept me awake all night singing drove me mad!  
Sleeping in the jeep was much better, even when the locals woke you up for a tow out of the mud!

i looked at the roof tents, they are expensive new, not sure about 2nd hand or trying to blag one- over to you maso

Getting to sleep quickly I need, I'd get to a point where I just needed to sleep, flinging everything back and lying the seats down was pretty good, had ear plugs which I would say are essential for me and my buff round my head, then a hotel every few days to unwind and have a good shower (and minibar) mmmm

I had fitted big ass reclining megane seats into teh mini that were was comfortable to sleep on. I'd highly reccoment fitting BIG seats in any long distance car for precisly this reason.

we never used our tents once, just slept in the cars. rearranged the stuff in the back and then reclined the seat all the way back and slept fine. it was nice having the security of a locked door or just starting the car and turning on the heat if you were cold.
the canadians got their roof tent free from the manufacture - their way of sponsoring them.
i personally liked having a roof rack for storing tires and such. roof tent wouldn't be worth it for me.

I jumped into the Kilmorie car for much needed sleep one time and My spasticated co-driver filled a jerry can but didnt re-tighten the straps. When I got back in the car teh cans were loose and banging off the glass sunroof and the tent was missing. God he was such a bloody retard.

Do you remember when that bloke rang and we pulled over then the jeep wouldnt start again - it was all his fault!! heehee

So glad my phone didn't work pretty much all the way.  Probably spent a hundred euros.  I think I owe Fiona a few quid.  
 
Arrived home to find a globalsim waiting in the postbox.  Bollixes.

Those fellas at teh swamp in MG were something else though.  Every time you opened the door you'd get thn of teh fcukerrs into the car.
